The worst thing that can happen to some people is success in a system where luck and flexibility play a huge role. Makes them instantly codify and set in stone whatever they happened to be doing when they hit it off.
Hard work is required. Luck is required. Both of these things can be true at the same time. Focusing on one or the other usually results in instilling unnecessary dogma and suffering in others.
