Some movies are explainable: you can dig in, do some research, and find lots of reasons they did as well as they did. It's not that making a hit movie is based solely on technique; luck, timing, and the chaos of nature plays a big role too. But there's at least _something_, some explanation, that matches up with its subsequent success.
Night of the Living Dead was well-made for its time. There's no doubting that. But to be so well-made as to have the impact it's had and to be done-to-death with sequels and spin-offs? No. Nowhere close.
It's a 60s movie with one simple premise: something has caused the dead to rise from their graves. Also they want to eat brains. (Because why not?) From that simple premise, billions of dollars have been made over five decades. There have been movies, theme-park-rides, TV shows, books, even scholarly works. For whatever reason, having the dead come back provides such a rich vein of metaphor that we're still not done mining it.
If you have watched zombie movies and you either like them or can just tolerate them, you owe it to yourself to go to the source and see where it all started.

Locals is turning off their free accounts and I've decided that I'd rather go back to maintaining my own site than sign up for any more "free" services that end up changing the conditions of service later.
The new site is just like this one, only no "locals" in the name. It's https://danielbmarkham.com
Please give it a shot, and please let me know if you have any problems signing up. I think I have the configuration down but you guys will be the first 100 or so to sign up, so there'll probably be some snags.
