This another book that many claim to be "The Best Novel Ever Written"
I really enjoyed it, although it was written in the early 1800s. Having said that, I found it a bit long, even for somebody who's able to read longer works. I think that might be because it was written in serial form, meant to be consumed a week-at-a-time, and not all at once.
This is also another piece of art that has been reproduced in various forms and formats over the years, a sure sign that it had lasting impact.
I don't want to give away too much. I'll only say that I would be very interested in hearing this as an audiobook. It's obviously a great work of literature, and time spent reading it is time you're investing in your own future. For the history buffs like me, one of the most amazing things about reading books like this is picturing yourself in such far away places. Most all of us have no idea what it was like living 200 years ago, but because this book was written for people living then, by reading between the lines of one great piece of art you can sometimes learn more about a culture than by reading a dozen books by distantly-removed outsiders.
BTW, the author, Dumas, had a father that was known as the Black Count. Check out the book by that name for another great tale, this time all true, about what it was like being black, rich, famous, and living in 1800's France.

Locals is turning off their free accounts and I've decided that I'd rather go back to maintaining my own site than sign up for any more "free" services that end up changing the conditions of service later.
The new site is just like this one, only no "locals" in the name. It's https://danielbmarkham.com
Please give it a shot, and please let me know if you have any problems signing up. I think I have the configuration down but you guys will be the first 100 or so to sign up, so there'll probably be some snags.
