102 years ago on 11 November 1918 the Armistice with Germany was signed ending the Great War. All was quiet on the Western front. The guns of August had led to the mechanized slaughter of millions. The armistice did not end the conflict; it only delayed the resolution another 30 years or so.
On this day we remember all veterans of wars who go out and do the dirty work for the rest of us. It's the old men who always start wars. It's the rich, lazy and indolent who refuse to fight them. It's the veterans who respond to the call.
We remember you. Thank you.
