Looking for cheap eyeglasses? Looking for your eyeglasses you had in your hand just a minute ago?
I used to pay hundreds of bucks for glasses at a time, and sometimes I bought multiple pairs. This was not a happy situation, especially since I am so forgetful.
Once I found Zenni Optical, though, I became a happy camper. Now I just pay 20, 30 bucks for a pair, and I bought enough pairs that I just stick them all over the house and office. They're online.
The only trick is that you will need your pupillary distance measure to get glasses, that's the distance between the pupils in each eye. Many eye doctors will not give you these! (I had to insist on a couple of occasions) They prefer if you use the eyeglasses store next door, which they own part of.
So in order for you to get the big discount, the next time you get your eyes examined, ask for a written prescription, then make sure they put the pupillary distance number on it. Worst-case, some places like Walmart will give you this for free if you ask nicely enough. It takes just a few seconds.
Note that I get the plain glasses. Like everything else, if you start loading up with the options, Zenni Optical will sell you some expensive glasses also, just like the big name stores do. But at least when you're ordering from home there's not much sales pressure. You can take your time to decide.
